I have a very old Casio CTK-451 Keyboard that I would like to use as a Midi controller with Pro Tools. It is in great shape and has Midi capability but I can't seem to set it up by following the Midi instructions in Pro Tools. Will I be able to use such an old keyboard? Note, I'm running Pro Tools with the M Box 2. I have the keyboard connected to the Midi in/out on the M Box.
Any help is appreciated. Best Answer: Make sure that you can see the I/O in the edit window of your instrument track. Load and instrument in the inserts, make sure the input is set to the Mbox--> All channels.
Record-Arm the track and try it again. If it still isn't working, close Pro Tools and let's make sure MIDI is even getting to your computer. For Mac download MIDI Monitor from snoize.com For PC download Midi-Ox from midiox.com Don't worry, all these programs do is display received MIDI info on a black or grey screen Hook up the keyboard, set the MIDI input to the Mbox for these programs and just press some keys.
If there are numbers and letters showing up, then that means MIDI signal is making it to your computer and there is only a simple setting missing in Pro Tools. If nothing shows up, you could try getting a device like the MIDISport 1x1 to go from MIDI to USB and see if the problem was the MIDI port on the MBox.
